HOW DO I...
OBTAIN REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS?

Prescriptions previously authorised by a doctor may be re-ordered monthly for up to six months following which further consultation will be required. No prescription requests are accepted during the week unless you are over 65 years of age or housebound. In these circumstances you can ring on Tuesday to Friday between 11.00am and 1.00pm.

You can order by:

If you would like to know about ordering on line, please contact our IT Manager.
Please allow 48 hours for your request to be processed.
The practice now operates a repeat dispensing system. Please contact our senior receptionist for details.

HOW DO I...
OBTAIN TELEPHONE ADVICE?

The most convenient time to contact the doctors by telephone is between 11.15 and 11.30am or between 6.00 and 6.15pm. At other times the doctors may be with patients. Interruptions to a consultation can be upsetting both for doctors and patients. For this reason staff are asked not to disturb consultations with non-urgent telephone calls. If you would prefer to use the option of a pre-booked telephone consultation rather than a face-to-face consultation, please ask our reception staff.

HOW DO I...
MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

Appointments can be made by telephone or in person. In order that we can keep waiting times to a minimum, please remember that appointments are for one person. If you have a number of problems that you wish to discuss with the doctor, please ask our reception staff to book you a double appointment. Urgent cases will be seen the same day, but not always by your usual doctor. If you cannot attend, please cancel as soon as possible. Please give our reception staff as much information as possible to enable them to give you the most appropriate appointment.

Pre-bookable appointments - if you wish to see a specific doctor and you would be prepared to wait to see them or need to plan ahead due to work commitments etc, you could ask to make a pre-bookable appointment. These appointments are usually available up to four weeks in advance.

Telephone consultations - if you would prefer to book a telephone consultation, please ask our reception staff about this.

We also have an on-line booking service, but you need to complete a registration form for this. Please contact our IT Manager if you are interested in this system.

EXTENDED OPENING HOURS

In order to help patients who have difficulty accessing a GP appointment during normal surgery working hours, due to work or childcare commitments etc, we now offer extended hours appointments on Monday evenings from 6.30 to 7.45pm. Please contact our reception staff if you wish to arrange an appointment at one of these sessions.

PLEASE HELP THE DOCTOR

We are asking for your help to assist us in working towards advanced access.
It may not be necessary to see the doctor for the following:

Sick notes
Holiday cancellation forms
Insurance claim forms
Bank claim forms
Repeat medication
BEEP (exercise on prescription)
Quitting smoking
Test results
Blood tests
Blood pressure checks
Smears
Weight and height checks
Urine tests
Holiday vaccinations
Asthma checks
Ear syringing
‘Morning after’ pill

Please ask reception staff before booking your appointment.

LETTERS FROM HOSPITALS

If you have been an inpatient, or have been seen in the outpatient department at a hospital, please allow at least three weeks for any correspondence to be received by the practice before making an appointment with your usual doctor. This avoids wasting your time and ours. If you receive a letter from the hospital asking you to consult your GP, please confirm that we have received communication from them before making the appointment. Thank you.

HOW DO I...
OBTAIN HOME VISITS?

Please telephone the surgery before 10.30am. Home visits are exclusively for patients whose medical condition prevents them from being able to attend the surgery. Explaining the symptoms to the receptionist will help the doctor see the most urgent cases first.

HOW DO I...
OBTAIN TEST RESULTS?

Please ring for any test results after 2.00pm Monday to Friday.

HOW DO I...
CHANGE MY DETAILS?

Please notify reception of any changes in your details including name, address and telephone number. These will be periodically checked with you when you attend the surgery to enable us to keep our database up to date.

HOW DO I...
REGISTER WITH THE PRACTICE?

You may register with the practice, as long as your address is within the practice boundary, by making an appointment with one of our nurses. Please contact our reception staff who will arrange an appointment, and will advise you about our new patient pack, which will need completing before your appointment. The pack includes a section for you to express your preference of GP, if you wish.
